At centre is Cuban-US bacteriologist Aristides Agramonte (1868-1931),one of seven people being awarded an honorary degree that day,each accompanied by an escort. Agramonte,who served on the Yellow Fever Commission,was an expert in tropical medicine and a professor at the University of Havana. He received an honorary degree of Doctor of Science. The other recipients of an honorary degree that day were William Williams,Edward Livermore Burlingame,Walter Johannes Damrosch,John Huston Finley,William Montague Geer,and Seth Low.
