Mueller's gibbon (Hylobates mueller) holding a flower. This grey gibbon is native to the rainforests of Borneo. Gibbons are the most adept of all the primates at moving through forest canopies. They move by swinging from branch to branch,a mode of transport called brachiation. They are extremely agile, and can make abrupt turns at full speed, stop in an instant and leap up to twelve metres. Grey gibbons are monogamous, and usually live in family groups consisting of a male, female and their dependent young. They very rarely eat meat, preferring instead to eat fruits, flowers and leaves | |
