Trinty Test atom bomb and Bradbury. US physicist Norris Bradbury (1909-1997),group leader for bomb assembly,standing next to the partially assembled Trinity Test atom bomb,known as 'The Gadget',on top of the test tower. This atom bomb was the first detonation of a nuclear weapon,carried out by the US Army on 16 July 1945 in New Mexico,USA. It was developed as part of the Manhattan Project at the Los Alamos Laboratory. The core consisted of a cylinder of uranium with plutonium and beryllium inside.
