A photochromic print from 1906 of Old Cairo,Egypt, with the pyramids visible in the distance. Old Cairo is a section of the city that contains the remnants of those cities that were capitals before Cairo, such as Fustat,as well as some other elements from the city's varied history. For example,it encompasses Coptic Cairo and its many old churches and ruins of Roman fortifications. This image was made by French industrialist Paul Fleury. Photochrom (also called the Aac process) prints are colorized images produced from black-and-white photographic negatives via the direct photographic transfer of a negative onto lithographic printing plates. The process is a photographic variant of chromolithography,a broader term that refers to colour lithography in general | |
