Two Soflax capsules. Docusate sodium (Soflax Sof-Lax) is a stool softener used to prevent and treat occasional constipation due to hard stools. It is taken with 240 mL (8 oz) of water at bedtime,usually when straining to have a bowel movement should be avoided (e.g.,after a heart attack or surgery and in painful anorectal conditions such as hemorrhoids and anal fissures). It may be used in patients who are undergoing opioid pain therapy,are opioid dependent,or on opioid replacement therapy. Prolonged use may cause irritation of the gastrointestinal tract. The dosage is based on the patient's medical condition and response to therapy. If diarrhea develops,taking this medication should be stopped. Capsules are available in 50 mg and 100 mg doses | |
