The Tidepool Ghost Shrimp,Callianassa affinis,lives in burrows that it creates in sand and sediments,typically below large intertidal rocks. The species is found along southern California beaches south into Mexico. A number of species live in a symbiotic relationship with this shrimp in its burrow including clams,other shrimp,crabs,worms,and a blind goby,Typhlogobius californiensis.
