The bateleur eagle (Terathopius ecaudatus) gets its name from the French word for juggler or acrobat,because of the spectacular aerial manoeuvres pairs of birds carry out during courtship. The Bateleur Eagle is found throughout sub-Saharan Africa and nests in trees. Adults can reach 85 centimetres in length. Prey includes mice,birds,snakes and carrion.
