Cuban tree frog. View of a cuban tree frog (Hyla septentrionalis) sitting on a leaf. This is one of the largest tree frogs, reaching almost 15 centimetres in some individuals. They live on the islands of the Caribbean Sea,and have also been introduced to the south-eastern USA. They live in ditches as well as on trees, and eat insects. They have adapted well to human environments, and grab insects attracted by bright street lights. They favour trees with large leaves, such as bananas and palms. They have soft suction pads at the ends of their toes which allow them a firm grip on leaves. Photographed in the Everglades National Park,Florida,USA | |
