Anemone fish. Anemone fish,or western clown fish,(Amphiprion ocellaris) amongst the tentacles of its host sea anemone. This fish lives in a symbiotic (mutually beneficial) relationship with the anemone. Slime on the body of the fish prevents the stinging cells on the anemone from harming it. Thus protected, the anemone fish sleeps, hides from danger, lays its eggs and feeds under the protection of its host. The anemone in turn receives morsels of food discarded by the fish, and is cleaned of parasites. This anemone fish may reach eight centimetres in length | |
