A butterfly fish,Chaetodon lunula. As the name implies, butterfly fishes are a group of highly coloured tropical fish. They are specialized feed- ers which feed on invertebrates living between coral. The pincer-like mouth on the end of an elongated snout enables the fish to penetrate into coral in search of concealed prey. Its greatly compressed body allows it to move between coral with ease. Butterfly fish are usually solitary or live in pairs. They are related to perch. Their striking colour patterns, body shape and graceful movements have attracted them to acquarium hobbyists.
