Lobster. Coloured X-ray of a lobster (order Decapoda). This marine crustacean has a segmented body, with four pairs of legs that it uses for walking on the sea floor. The larger of the two pincers (upper frame) is used for crushing the lobster's shellfish prey. The abdomen ends in a tail fan (lower centre),which can be flicked in an emergency to allow the lobster to escape rapidly from danger. Lobsters live in crevices in rocks and coral. Certain species are eaten and are considered to be a delicacy | |
