1950s film projector. Projectionist at work in a cinema,photographed on 9 February 1958. The principles of film were demonstrated in 1895,and by the 1920s hundreds of films were being made every year. Sound arrived in the late 1920s,and by the late 1950s new formats such as Cinemascope were being used. Films released in 1958 include Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Attack of the 50 Foot Woman.
