Anaphase cell division. Coloured transmission electron micrograph of a HeLa cell during anaphase cell division (mitosis). At upper and lower centre are two sets of chromosomes (red). During anaphase the chromosomes have duplicated,and each complete set is in the process of moving to opposite poles of the cell. In this way,nuclear division occurs,and two new nuclei will result. The chromosomes are moved by spindle microtubules (not seen) in the cytoplasm. During mitosis a cell produces two genetically identical daughter cells. HeLa cells are human cancer cells cultured in the laboratory and used in cancer research. Magnification: x2,200 at 6x4.5cm size
