The photo was published in Archives of Clinical Skiagraphy, the first radiological journal,in 1896,the year after Roentgen discovered X-rays. The patient's leg is placed onto a photographic plate. The X-ray tube is of the pear-shaped design used by Roentgen, and there is an induction coil (upper left),an accumulator (upper centre),and three Leyden jars. The patient is unprotected from stray X-rays. The journal caption reads: "Photograph of apparatus and method employed for obtaining a skiagram" | |
