MODEL RELEASED. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Doctor communicates with a patient lying in a pressure chamber and undergoing hyperbaric (high-pressure) oxygen therapy. The monoplace chamber accommodates a single patient. The treatment lasts about two hours. Pressure in the chamber with pure oxygen is 2.2 to 2.4 times atmospheric pressure. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy raises the patient's blood and body tissue oxygen levels. Although controversial,it can be used to treat cases of gas poisoning, diabetic ulcers, and burns, where oxygen helps to speed healing.
