MODEL RELEASED. Tilt table diagnosis. Woman in a tilt table during diagnosis of unexplained black- outs and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME - Myalgic Encephalomyelitis). She is strapped tightly into the table, with a pulse meter on her finger and electrodes monitoring heartbeat. A tilt table applies negative pressure to lower parts of the body. While being monitored, the patient is tilted up to reproduce symptoms of loss of consciousness in people suffering dizziness, blackouts, and ME. If the patient has a fainting episode or low blood pressure during testing, symptoms enable diagnosis of the condition and help determine the treatment. Photographed at Johns Hopkins Hospital,USA | |
