Spider naevus (telangiectatic angioma) on a patient's skin. This mark is a discoloured patch of skin with a raised central red spot surrounded by radiating red 'legs'. It is a dilated arteriole surrounded by its connecting capillaries. Single spider naevi are found on the face, trunk and limbs in healthy children and adults. They may enlarge during pregnancy. However, numerous naevi may be found in association with an underlying liver disease such as cirrhosis of the liver, caused by high alcohol consumption | |
