House owned by Sir Joseph Banks. A manor house in Marshchapel,Lincolnshire,UK,owned by English botanist and explorer Sir Joseph Banks (1743- 1820). He discovered hundreds of new species during his 1768 trip around the world with the explorer James Cook. The expedition led to the classification of 1400 plants,many of which were put in the new genus Banksia. In 1778 he was elected President of the Royal Society,an office he held for 41 years.
