Bell became fascinated by aviation late in life,having earlier invented the telephone. Glenn Curtiss became one of aviation's great pioneers and aircraft manufacturers. One notable member not seen here is Samuel Langley. The group was formed to perform a variety of experiments into the very new science of aeronautics.
