MODEL RELEASED. Biocoil project. Chlorella algae used in a Biocoil settles at the base of a glass held by Stephen Skill. Skill is the inventor of the Biocoil,a photobioreactor initially designed for treating sewage. The Biocoil is a system of transparent tubing, built as a spiral up to 5 metres high, which circulates this Chlorella algae. Sewage effluent introduced into the Biocoil acts as an algal nutrient, while treatment of the sewage is highly efficient. Growing algae clump together and settle rapidly, and can be harvested from the Biocoil to provide fertilisers and animal feeds. Burning the excess Chlorella releases energy that can be used to generate electricity | |
