Storing genetic material. Geneticist removing blood samples from a gene bank. These samples are stored in liquid nitrogen at a very low temperature of -196 degrees Celsius,a process known as cryogenic storage. The blood samples are from families affected by genetic diseases and will be studied in order to find the genes responsible for these disorders.
