Human gene bank. Test tubes containing the entire human genome found in a laboratory refrigerator. Racks of yellow-capped tubes are seen each with a specific label. Each tube contains a particular region of the DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) found on any one of the 48 chromosomes from a human cell. These fragments have been cloned and stored. Taken as a whole, these tubes contain all the DNA found in a human cell, and can therefore be called a human gene bank. Gene banks are commonly used during the human genome project, which aims to identify and map all human genes | |
