Rainfall pollution monitor. The apparatus collects both dry and wet deposition. The dry collector has chemically-impregnated filters to collect nitric acid, sulphur dioxide and particulate pollutants (dust aerosols). The wet collector collects rain, and other wet precipitation, for analysis for the same pollutants,as well as pH levels (acidity) and ammonium, nitrate, chloride and trace metal ions. This monitor is part of the Clean Air Status and Trends Network (CASTNET) and the US National Atmospheric Deposition Program (NADP). The data is collected weekly from each site.
