Caspian Sea. Satellite image of the world's largest inland sea,the Caspian Sea (lower right). Kazakhstan,Turkmenistan,Iran,Azerbaijan and Russia share its shores. The Caspian Sea has no outflowing rivers and loses water only by evaporation. It is fed by several rivers including the Volga (upper left). Fertiliser runoff from agricultural land has resulted in eutrophication (nutrient enrichment) of the sea's water, which in turn has led to algal growth (green swirls).
