MODEL RELEASED. Atmospheric research. Scientist with a Cloud Condensation Nucleus Counter (CCNC,lower centre) & a radon radioactivity counter (upper centre) used in atmospheric research. The CCNC simulates the conditions inside a real cloud. It counts the number of particles in an air sample which have the properties needed for a cloud drop- let to form on that particle. Radon is a radioact- ive gas given off naturally by land masses. By measuring the levels of radon in a sample it is possible to determine if it came from over the land or the sea.
