Fallen tree. Picnic table crushed by a tree felled by straight-line winds, which can gust to more than 160 kilometres per hour. Straight-line winds are strong winds that blow from the same direction for their duration. During a storm, columns of air drop straight down as downdrafts. When they reach the surface of the earth, the columns spread out and become horizontal,or 'straight- lines'. Photographed in Kansas,USA | |
