Eyewall of Hurricane Katrina,seen from inside the eye over the Gulf of Mexico on 28 August 2005. At this point,Katrina was a Category Five hurricane with winds of over 250 kilometres per hour. This towering mass of white clouds is part of the eyewall,the area around the central eye,and where the strongest winds are found.
