Swirl of cloud around a Tropical Storm seen from space. This swirl of cloud surrounded Tropical Storm Javier in the eastern Pacific Ocean. The low-level clouds are rotating anticlockwise about the centre of the storm (cyclonic flow). The flat area of cloud to the right of the centre is high- level cirrus which has come from an isolated thunderstorm. The high-level winds are anti- cyclonic, flowing clockwise. Wind speeds in Javier were not recorded any higher than 100 kilometres per hour, hence its classification as a Tropical Storm.
