Evidence of water flow on Mars. A view of the surface of Mars taken by NASA's Curiosity rover, just north of the Kimberley waypoint. The image shows beds of sandstone inclined to the southwest toward Mount Sharp,a mountain in the middle of Gale Crater. The inclination of the beds indicate there may have been rivers flowing down from the crater rim to the north into a lake to the south, where Mount Sharp is now. The Curiosity rover is part of the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission. It landed on Mars on 6 August 2012,on a mission to investigate the Martian climate and geology | |
