Turbines in Murray 1 power station. Murray 1 is the 2nd largest power station in the Snowy mountains hydro scheme. It has 10,95 megawatt turbine generators. Each turbine can generate enough electricity to power 95,000 homes. The whole snowy hydro scheme generates an average of 4500 gigawatt hours per year and produces 11% of Australia's electricity.
