Florida manatee (Trichechus manatus latirostris) in a shallow coastal lagoon. This herbivorous aquatic mammal is a subspecies of the West Indian manatee (Trichechus manatus) and inhabits shallow coastal waters and estuaries in the tropical and subtropical Atlantic Ocean and in the Gulf of Mexico.
