Florence Sabin (1871-1953),US medical researcher. Sabin studied and taught anatomy and histology. Sabin pioneered the role women could play in science. Among the firsts she achieved were a full professorship at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine (1917),and the first woman elected to the National Academy of Sciences (1924). From 1925 she worked at the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research in New York City,USA. In 1951,she was presented with the prestigious Lasker Award. Photographed in 1932 | |
