Tuberculosis and cholera research. These test tubes are from the laboratory of the German bacteriologist Robert Koch (1843-1910),who isolated the bacteria responsible for both diseases. He identified Mycobacterium tuberculosis (left) in 1882,and Vibrio cholerae (right) in 1883.
