MODEL RELEASED. Sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus) skeleton assembly. Conservators from the Zoological Museum in Copenhagen drilling a hole through the middle of a whale's caudal bone. This will allow the bones to be hung from a metal frame. These bones came from a whale first found stranded on Henne Strand,Jutland,Denmark. It measured 14 meters in length and weighed an estimated 30 tonnes. The carcass was dissected and the bones cleaned under a lengthy process. The 150 or so bones that make up the sperm whale skeleton will be re-assembled onto a permanent structure for public display at the Museum | |
