GPM weather satellite ground sensor. GPM Ground Validation Advanced Microwave Radiometer Rain Identification (ADMIRARI) for the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) mission. The lights allow detection of snow build-up on the sensors that would affect the measurements. The GPM weather satellite,a joint NASA-JAXA mission, will calibrate readings from a network of other satellites and ground-based instruments. It launched on 27 February 2014.
