Lunar Society meeting. Illustration of a meeting of the Lunar Society of Birmingham,a dinner club and meeting club for industrialists and learned men in the Midlands area of England. They are meeting here at the 'Heathfield' residence of Scottish engineer and inventor James Watt (1736-1819). Others who regularly attended such meetings included Matthew Boulton,Joseph Priestley,and Erasmus Darwin. Meetings were held around the time of the Full Moon.
