The Cecropia Moth,latin name Hyalophora cecropia,is a species of moth indigenous to North America. It belongs to the Saturniidae family,order Lepidoptera. It is the largest moth in north America,also known as the giant silk moth,with wingspans up to 165 mm. Its larvae are most common on maple trees,but they have been known to feed on other fruit trees as well. The Cecropia moth caterpillar is most often found in open forest terrain,feeding on the leaves of many kinds of trees and shrubs.
