The Baptistry of St. John (Battistero di San Giovanni) Pisa,Italy. The Baptistery is close to the Duomo di Pisa (Pisa Cathedral) and the cathedral's free-standing campanile,the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. The baptistry was designed by Diotisalvi,and is the largest baptistry in Italy. It was begun in 1153 in a Romanesque style with rounded arches,and completed in the 1300s in the Gothic style,with pointed arches. It is built on the same unstable ground as the Leaning Tower,and has a slight lean of 0.6 degrees
