Dishwashing machine,19th-century artwork. Longitudinal section through an machine called an 'Archimedienne',designed to wash dishes and plates. The name may have been due to the internal mechanism of an Archimedes' screw water pump to move water past the brushes as the handle is turned at right. The machine was designed by the French inventors Delaroche and Neveux. Artwork from the 15th volume (first period of 1895) of the French popular science weekly 'La Science Illustree' | |
