Unloading Antarctic fuel supplies. Expedition members unloading and stacking blocks of patent fuel on 23 January 1911 during the British Antarctic Expedition (1910-1913). These blocks of Crown Patent Fuel from Cardiff are being stacked behind the stables. This is the Cape Evans hut,with Mount Erebus in the background. Also known as the Terra Nova Expedition,the primary expedition objectives were scientific. Led by Robert Falcon Scott,a shore party of 33 spent two seasons exploring on and around the Ross Ice Shelf.
