The hut was built at Cape Royds during the British Antarctic (Nimrod) Expedition (1907-1909) led by Anglo-Irish explorer Ernest Shackleton (1874-1922). This photograph was obtained during the British Antarctic Expedition (1910-1913). Also known as the Terra Nova Expedition and led by Robert Falcon Scott,the shore party of 34 spent two seasons exploring on and around the Ross Ice Shelf.
