Plant physiology laboratory equipment. Apparatus devised by US physiologist Winthrop John Van Leuven Osterhout (1874-1964) for determining electrical response in single cells of the alga Nitella. Osterhout's primary research was on the electrophysiology and electric conductivity of plant cells. He worked mainly in the laboratories at Pacific Grove (Hopkins Marine Station),Woods Hole,and Bermuda. He was the editor of the 'Journal of General Physiology' from 1919 to 1964 | |
