Leo Loeb (1869-1959),US physician and pathologist. Loeb attained his medical degree (MD) from the University of Zurich in 1897. He became a US citizen in 1902. He specialised in medical teaching and experimental pathology,and went on to work on cancer and endocrinology. From 1910,he worked at Washington University in St Louis,being appointed professor in 1915. Elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1937,he published over 400 papers,articles and books,including 'The Biological Basis of Individuality' (1945) and 'The Causes of Cancer' (1947).
