Patrick Alfred Caldwell-Moore (1923-2012),British amateur astronomer and television presenter,with an orrery marking 70 years membership of the British Astronomical Association (BAA). Moore,who raised the public profile of astronomy,was best known for presenting the long-running BBC television programme 'The Sky at Night'. A former president of the BAA,and co-founder and former president of the Society for Popular Astronomy,he was made OBE (1968),CBE (1988),and both knighted and made an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society in 2001.
