Kon-Tiki balsa raft,artwork. This raft was used in a 1947 expedition led by Norwegian explorer,writer and ethnographer Thor Heyerdahl (1914-2002). He and five others sailed across the Pacific Ocean from South America to the Polynesian islands. The aim was to show that people from South America could have settled Polynesia.
