Avicenna is a Latinised form of his full Arabic name Abu-Ali Al-Husain Ibn Abdullah Ibn Sina. Avicenna,who based much of his work on earlier Greek and Roman writers,wrote medical treatises such as 'The Canon' and 'The Book of Healing'.
