Bragg then worked in Australia as a mathematics professor before returning to England in 1908. He became professor of physics at Leeds from 1909 and began his work on X-rays. With his son,he went on to examine the wavelengths of X-rays by using crystals, founding X-ray crystallography. Bragg and his son shared the 1915 Nobel Prize in Physics for this work, and Bragg senior was knighted in 1920. Artwork published in the Illustrated London News in 1884 | |
