Mushroom-based material and mushrooms. The mushroom material (bottom) is made by adding oyster mushroom spores to a substrate mixture of cheap agricultural by-products and hydrogen peroxide. The mixture is poured into a mold and grown in the dark. The oyster mushroom grows a network of mycelia that help to bind the mixture. It is then dried and used for insulation and packing. The mushroom material offers a renewable and biodegradable alternative to standard synthetic insulation and packing materials | |
