Fossilised dinosaur claw. Fossilised claw from a Tarbosaurus dinosaur. Tarbosaurus was a large bipedal carnivorous theropod that flourished in Asia about 70 million years ago,at the end of the Late Cretaceous period (around 65 to 100 million years ago). It is closely related to the better known and wider spread Tyrannosaurus and could reach up to 12 metres long. Since it is only found in China and Mongolia some specialists argue that Tarbosaurus is the Asian equivalent of the (North American) Tyrannosaurus, and not a separate genus. This claw was found in Mongolia, and measures about 100 mm long | |
