Cleopatra VII Philopator 69-30 BC. Detail after a bas relief in the Temple of Hathor,Dendera,Egypt. This has been considered as an attempted likeness of Cleopatra based on the long narrow eye,the aquiline nose and the upward curving mouth similar to those of her father Ptolemy XIII. On the temple exterior there is also a carving of Cleopatra and her son. Cleopatra represented herself as the reincarnation of an Egyptian goddess Isis and is shown here in that role. She ruled Egypt from 51 BC - 30 BC and was the last member of the Ptolemy dynasty of Egyptian rulers | |
